President Swenson and I just want to let you know that Elder Skouson arrived safe and sound in Brazil on Thursday. We are so grateful to receive him and are impressed already that his Portuguese is very good. We spent a little time with him when he arrived and then sent him off with our secretary to the Federal Police to get his official documents. Thursday night he went out to work with our Assistants. Then on Friday he went on a 3 hour bus ride down to Pelotas which is south of Porto Alegre. He will begin his mission in a ward there called Fernando Osorior. He is being trained by one of our former Zone Leaders, Elder Sewell, from Loomis California. We can tell already that he has a wonderful testimony of the gospel and a great foundation of leadership in the church that will be such strength to him in his service to the Lord.
